I had the privilege of meeting and discussing with the Founder-President of the societ -y. Late Sri Algireddy Kashi Viswanatha Reddy garu. I was overtaken by a sense of pride in the fact that, a so called backward area is capable of producing rural leadership that is rated amongst the best in the word in terms of commitment to rural development and the betterment of the rural poor, organizational abilities, personal integrity and adherence to the highest values of a democratic and just society. Ever since then I have been groping to find out how the Mulkanoor model of Cooperative Movement can be replicated on a wider scale in the country.

It is a role model for others. If at all villages have such committed cooperative societies, India will change for better. It is one stop answer to all needs and aspirations of farmers.

The success of the village is its members was only because of their hard working & commitment towards their villagers & their future. I really accept that with united we stand expression input into reality in this village & society.

We visited this society along with 107 officers who are recruited directly as assistants in CSS. The presentation showed a very effective and impressive growth of this society. The way it has benefitted the public and the drastic change it has brought a sea change in the lives of people from poverty to becoming self sufficient. The system of loaning and credit grants to the public is very systematic and contributing to its consistent success.

The Society as it exists today is the work of over twenty years. It has grown in to a gigantic size by Indian Standards size apart by sheer quality of service and cleanliness of record and reputation it has few equals. The villagers of 14 villages under its purview have shown separate loyalty which is a pre-requisite of all successful coops. It is my wish that many more of this type will spring up and many more families like the one of Vishwanatha Reddy will show devotion to the cause of the villages of the places of their bank. Man is the centre of all institutions and let us pray and hope that on coming generation will throw more and more men calibre, competence and dedication.

What NABARD has been dreaming about ideal cooperative set up in practically seen at Mulkanoor. There is a strong need to spread the message of Mulkanoor to other cooperatives in the state and also in the country. As late Sri P.N Haskar has commented it is indeed "hulk Ka Noor!"
